Everyone wants to enjoy perfect vision with naked eyes without any help from visual aids. Lasik surgery makes this possible to give you clear vision without any corrective lens. It is a boon for patients with myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. Sometimes doctors suggest Lasik for patients suffering from presbyopia as well. However, it is very important to first check whether Lasik is suitable for you or not. You can fix your appointment with the best and experienced doctors for Lasik eye surgery in Delhi NCR. The success of any surgery largely depends upon the doctor you rely on. I got my Lasik from this hospital and I am satisfied with the amazing results as I no longer require my glasses.

Is Lasik Very Costly For You?

Lasik is nearly painless and has a quick recovery timeline. Also, Lasik surgery pricing in India does not cost hefty in your pocket and gives you freedom from glasses. Many laser centres use older technology and thus are far cheaper. Most people rush after seeing cheap costs but I will suggest giving more importance to medical safety protocols and quality control. My Lasik surgery cost me around Rs. 60k but the tools were well maintained and they used modern technology for guaranteed results. However, the cost of Lasik varies for the type of laser surgery you are suitable for.

Am I Eligible For Lasik Surgery?

I was in overall good health and did not have severe problems like glaucoma or cataract. Also, the age above 21 with a stable eyeglass prescription for more than a year made me suitable for Lasik. So, I decided to schedule an appointment to get rid of my glasses for clear and stable vision with my naked eye. The doctor examined my eyes and performed necessary tests to evaluate whether I am eligible for Lasik or not. The tests were to determine the thickness of the cornea, size of the pupil, current eye power, and overall eye health. It is necessary to evaluate these factors because it adds a great impact on post Lasik results.

After the positive results from the tests, the doctor explained everything about the process. Lasik procedure involves the removal of some amount of tissue from your cornea using an excimer laser. So, reshaping your cornea allows light to focus the image clearly on the retina. The process hardly takes around 25-30 minutes for both eyes and you can leave the hospital on the same day.

How To Know If You Are Eligible For Lasik Surgery?

Before opting for Lasik eye surgery, make sure that it is suitable for you. For being eligible for Lasik, your age must be at least 21 years with a stable eyeglass prescription for more than the past year. In addition, your power should lie between the corrective range of Lasik. However, if your power is too high even then also you will feel a great difference. The checklist to go for Lasik is as follows and may require an eye expert to perform the proper examination of your eyes.

  1. Proper thickness of the cornea and accurate size of the pupil.
  2. You should not be pregnant or feeding breast milk to your child.
  3. The person must not have cataracts, lupus, glaucoma, or any eye infection.
  4. Lastly, you should be in good health.

How To Prepare For Lasik Surgery?

With many years of rich experience, the doctor compiled useful tips that can help anyone prepare well for the procedure.

  • If you wear contacts, then you need to discontinue their use prior to Lasik. You can use equivalent prescription eyeglasses for clear vision in the meantime. Contacts alter the shape of the cornea which makes it difficult to make accurate assessments by the surgeon. The doctor suggests stopping wearing contacts at least a week before the process.
  • If you are eligible for Lasik, then schedule the day for surgery ensuring you can take proper rest after the process. Although Lasik shows quick results, you should take one day off from your work for faster recovery.
  • You cannot drive all by yourself back to the home after Lasik. So, make sure you have someone with you to assist you for the first 24 to 48 hours post-Lasik.
  • Do not wear any makeup or apply any sort of lotion before going for the Lasik. Your face should be clean to minimize any chance of infection.

What Things To Expect During Lasik Surgery?

On the day of Lasik surgery, the doctor will perform some tests and give you numbing eye drops. This anaesthetic eye drop will make the whole process painless. However, you may feel a little pressure on your eyes. The doctor uses an excimer laser and other advanced tools to remove the calculated amount of tissue from the cornea. The whole process takes hardly 20 to 30 minutes for both eyes.

After the process, a plastic eye shield will be taped over your eyes to protect them from dust and bright light. Doctors suggest taking a proper nap of 4 hours to relax your eyes.

What Are The Necessary Precautions Post Lasik Surgery?

Most patients start noticing clear vision within 24 hours while it takes a week or two for others. Your vision may remain blurry for a few hours or a few days. After the procedure, your eyes will feel an itchy and burning sensation. It may also cause mild pain in your eyes and to counter it your doctor will give you some pain reliever. Your eyes may become sensitive towards light post Lasik. So, try not to expose your eyes to direct sunlight or bright light indoors.

For the first two weeks, you may notice glares, halos, and starbursts around the bright light. So, do not drive especially at night as imperfect vision can lead to terrible accidents. Some people also find it difficult to see properly at night for the first week.

You will feel discomfort in your eyes like dryness and itching. Do not rub your eyes or else it will hinder the healing process. Rubbing or even applying little pressure on your eyes can damage the flap causing severe pain. Here are some useful tips that you can follow for a faster and more smooth recovery from Lasik.

  1. Wear goggles or protective eye shields to avoid exposure to bright light.
  2. Do not put too much strain on your eyes by involving in any tiring visual activities like reading for too long or binge-watching episodes.
  3. Take prescribed medications and eye drops on time. If your eyes feel dry then eye drops will lubricate them.
  4. Avoid using soap or makeup on the face. The chemicals can enter your eye and harm the cornea delaying the recovery process.
  5. Do not use any digital devices or watch TV for the first 24 hours following Lasik. Limiting the use of screens for a week will help you heal faster.
  6. If your work involves the use of a computer then try to take a break every 40 minutes to avoid too much strain on the eyes.
